EFT Tapping Points Guide

It’s Called The Basic Recipe
Emotional Freedom Technique has been streamlined over the years. There is a Basic Recipe that is widely available online.
How To**
- Choose something that causes stress for you. It may be physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. Think about it and assign a number on a scale of 1 to 10 how much discomfort it causes you. Write that number down with a brief description of what you’re thinking about.
- Start with the point called Karate Chop (KC), which in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is Small Intestine 3. (see the diagram, on the hand) It doesn’t matter which hand you choose and you can switch hands at any time.
- For clarity, the KC is found on the pinky side of the hand in the fleshy part just below the joint at the bottom of your pinky. Use 2 or 3 fingers for comfort and you’ll easily stimulate the correct acupoint. It’s also okay to tap this point with the flat side of your fingertips.
- As you tap the KC, say “Even though I _____________________________________, I deeply and completely accept myself.” Fill in the blank with the stressor you’ve written down. Tap and say this statement 3 times.
- Next, tap on the Top of Head (TH) point with either hand approximately 7 times, saying a word or phrase that helps you maintain a connection to the stress you feel about this particular stressor.
- Continue tapping and speaking a word or phrase that helps you maintain a connection to the stress you feel about this particular stressor, on the Beginning of the Eyebrow (EB), Side of the Eye (SE), Under the Eye (UE), Under the Nose (UN), Chin (CH), Beginning of the Collarbone (CB), and Under the Arm (UA). Where the points are mirrored on both sides of the body, only one side need be tapped, or both can be tapped.
- Repeat Steps 4 through 6, 3 or 4 times.
- End with the Top of Head (TH) point tapping.
- Think about the stressor, notice how you feel, and assign a number on a scale of 1 to 10 again. Note any changes.
